Subhash Banerjee, MD
Dear Readers, Contributors, Editorial Board, Editorial staff and Publishing team members,
I am delighted to usher in the summer of 2022 by addressing you in my first editorial as the incoming Editor in Chief of The American Journal of Cardiology, currently in an interim role. Standing on the shoulders of a giant in medicine, Dr. William C. Roberts, The American Journal of Cardiology (AJC) has earned its rightful place as one of the leading independent journals on cardiovascular disease for specialists and internists throughout the world. As a revered mentor, cardiovascular scientist par excellence, independent thinker, and dear friend, Bill Roberts passes the journal in our hands. We will carry forward and enhance the tremendous success and recognition the AJC has secured amongst contributors and readers as a highly rated scientific, peer-reviewed journal that focuses on the practical, clinical approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Published 24 times a year, The American Journal of Cardiology has one of the fastest acceptance to publication times in Cardiology. Simply, this charge is going to be our mission.

As we celebrate the tremendous contributions of Dr. Bill Roberts, it is equally important to recognize the unyielding commitment of our editorial board, editorial staff, and publishing team. You all work in sync each day to realize the mission of the Journal to help healthcare professionals and researchers advance science and improve health outcomes for the benefit of society. Honored as I am to have been asked to assume this responsibility, it is with great humility I seek your counsel, commitment, and collaboration. Through this culture of teamwork, we will be able to embrace the power of diversity and transparency, stay at the forefront of cardiovascular science and innovation, remain committed to our contributors, and bring cardiovascular content relevant to our readers.
