Transcatheter mitral valve repair using the MitraClip device is an established treatment
option with increasing clinical application for moderate-severe or severe mitral regurgitation
(MR) in high-risk patients. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end stage renal disease
(ESRD) are significant co-morbidities that contribute to an elevated surgical risk
in patients with MR. In patients with ESRD, kidney transplantation has shown to be
the preferred treatment with better quality of life, improved mortality and morbidity
as compared with dialysis. Previous studies have assessed the impact of baseline CKD
and ESRD on dialysis on outcomes in patients undergoing MitraClip.

However, the data on the outcomes of MitraClip in renal transplant recipients is
limited. Therefore, we aimed to perform a nationwide study to compare the characteristics
and outcomes of patients undergoing MitraClip with and without a history of renal
transplant. To read this article in full you will need to make a payment
