Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is a major cause of death in the United States.

Ventricular fibrillation is the most commonly observed rhythm disturbance in the
early stages of cardiac arrest

and is often provoked by acute myocardial ischemia.

To address the issue of mechanical reperfusion therapy in the setting of OHCA, we
undertook a retrospective study at our center of all patients successfully resuscitated
from ventricular fibrillation OHCA in whom urgent coronary angioplasty was performed
